Coach

There is a great video by Dr. Abraham Twerski where he shares that when Lobsters outgrow their shell, they cannot simply ditch the old one and adopt new shell swag like many crabs.

Lobsters must remove themselves from their shells entirely and find a rock crevice or somewhere to hide under, completely vulnerable, as a soft mushy creatures to prey and predators--and sit and wait for their new shell to grow.

The only stimulus for the lobster to be able to grow is that it feels uncomfortable.

  • "Women like Janne are more than important, they are vital to the fabric of this society. She exudes strength and grace in a combination like few I've ever known and her words are reminders, often fierce, often gentle, to that deep well of power inside her. As long as she writes, I'll read." - Tyler Knott Gregson
  • "It is rare to meet somebody who makes revolution nature"
    - Alan Clements
  • "When Janne appears, she has that rare ability to light up the room, and sometimes the mountain or the entire forest ! Read with her and be transported to the loving, kind, fantastic and thoughtful world we all want to believe exists. I do."
    -Peter Tunney

Dr. Abraham goes on to joke that if Lobsters had doctors, they would never grow. Because as soon as the lobster feels uncomfortable he can just go to the doctor and get a Valium or a Percocet and feels fine—never takes off his shell.

Human beings in our day and age instead of leaning into growth that is uncomfortable numb and avoid with booze, sex, drugs, shopping, medications, cigarettes, over-sleeping, Netflix, Television. We stay in our tiny ass shells stubbornly like assholes.

We often know exactly where the work is but we avoid, avoid, avoid.

You already know where some of your work is.

The only way through uncomfortability, is to feel it. To acknowledge. To be brave enough to face yourself. I will face yourself with you--I will lovingly and neutrally support you in your ring of dedication to your authenticity and truth.

Working with me is sitting still and looking at what you know it is time to look at the inside of you--what needs to be pulled forth from within you.

Yeah, cool, but what the fuck do lobsters have to do with me? What will we actually work together on?

The short of it: You. The work is specific to you.

I believe that, if we find the center of what brings us joy and apply ourselves to it--we not only heal our suffering, but we heal this worlds suffering.

You can call it your dharma, your vocation, your calling, your truth, your passion--what you go crazy for--what puts a wildness in your eyes and a beat in your heart.

This is part of the work we have as humans and is a slice of the work I focus on with my clients.

I get in the sandbox with them and rip back the fears and the buts and look at what gives them joy and why they believe they can't have it.

I work with people on business structure, what to charge, what the value is of their services, what the "why, how and what" is of their business/brand. We build websites. Invoicing tools. Time management. Boundaries--oh, Lord boundaries. Delegating--sweet delegation. A structure as an owner because when we are hungry for what we love our businesses may eat us.

I work with people on self-care--physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, dietary self-care. How much do you move your body? How much time do you invest in yourself? How much of a fuck are you giving about your well being? How we do one thing is how we do all things.

I work with people at looking at the roots of ugly widespread shared beliefs like "unworthy" and "not enough”.

I work with people on feeling like a "fraud" because you're an autodidact in an economy of people with pieces of paper and you believe you don't deserve it--but you do.

I work with people on their relationships with money, abundance, and success. I look at scarcity, and fear and their parents relationships with money and how this directly affects how they exist in this world. I stretch the limits and break scarcity ceilings. Money is just energy, it isn't rocket science.

I work with people on opening their big beautiful voices so they can shout their truths from the rooftop--artists, non-artists--doesn't matter. Swallowing our truth kills us.

I give homework that is interactive and will challenge you. We will sometimes use somatic therapy and movement to heal. You will have written exercises and experiential exercises. Sometimes we will do visualizations. You will lean into that which is uncomfortable so that you exist in a space that is bigger in this world.

Because once you drink a few teas in what makes you squirm, it doesn't make you squirm as much anymore.

Working with me is sitting still and looking at what you know it is time to look at the inside of you--what needs to be pulled forth from within you to save not only you but this world.

For when we heal our suffering, we heal this world.

You will heal yourself, and I will hold the space for you. And inevitably this heals not only your mother and father and husband or wife but pours out into the world around you--because the work isn't contained within us, it spreads like wildfire when we heal ourselves and touches the entire planet.

It is an investment in you, and it is an investment in our world—consider this a piece of paper to greater understand you and to dedicate yourself to your truth.

Who do you coach? Do you just coach artists/writers?

I work with artists and non-artists.

I work with women in their twenties, women in their forties, I work with men. I work with young women in their teens. I work with families. I working on familial relationships--mothers with daughters, sisters with sisters, husbands and wives, fathers and daughters.

I work with people who give a fuck about themselves and are willing to take the time.

Important things to give a fuck about before going further:

  • My consultations are $250 USD.
  • I work with 3 people at a time, for two 6 month increments a year. I go all in with my clients, and this means working with fewer people to go deeper.
If you feel called to have a consultation over Skype to meet me and experience a session together to see what exactly it is I do and if we are a fit, fill out the form below:
  • "Within the first 5 minutes of our 1-1, it was clear there were other, more deep-seated issues demanding our attention. That’s the thing with Janne. You sit down on the floor together face-to-face, holding eye contact, and suddenly it feels totally normal to divulge all that’s out of alignment in your life (to someone you just met). She feels safe. I guess she creates space for you to go soft, for you to be ‘not okay’. She’s compassionate and understanding, while still holding you fiercely accountable for your choices. For me, this is how change started.” - Kylie Grills, Frankincense & Myrrh
  • ”There is a rawness to the work with Janne. A "hey, I'm a real person too, let's figure this out, let's do work." Not someone who claims to have everything together and is going to fix my oh-so-simple problems. I feel that the need to fix things is the common notion I have experienced from other coaches. They have these "this is simple" kind of solutions to all things as if they have all the answers and my problems are amateur. At no point did I feel this way with Janne. I felt respected and supported, I had a guide and a sister rather than an enlightened pedestal sitting fortune teller."
    - Codi Mccain
  • "I was a little concerned about the amount of money I’d invested in this. I clearly believed in her work, and was ready to DO the work, otherwise I wouldn’t have booked it. But nevertheless, there was still a niggly worry that maybe I’d spent too much money on myself. Well let me tell you. If instead I had been sent on the retreat, and THEN asked to pay what I thought it was WORTH upon completion… I would have paid a bloody lot more than what was required. In my opinion, the life I get to live now after working with Janne, is worth my life. The thought of continuing on the way I was before is absolutely terrifying… and I wouldn’t have said that before because I didn’t know any different. To anyone else thinking of investing in working with Janne, I hope you deem yourself worth it."
