This Is For The Women.
In 2014 I published a poem called "This is for the women who don't give a fuck" and it went viral.
It not walked but ran into the hearts of women internationally around this world as a poem, affirmation and mantra.
The poem has being devoured and picked up and looked at and put down over 1.8 million times.
I decided to give it a different voice in 2015 when I directed a spoken word poetry video of 18 women speaking the lines of the poem in NYC.
I didn't really know what I was doing--I was inspired by New York and met a incredible woman who looked at me one afternoon with fire in her eyes and said, "Let's make art."
We directed, funded and produced the video in 5 days.
The women involved were not actresses, they were readers from my social media, and they choose the lines that spoke to them.
Women came to me freshly our of divorces, telling me how empowering the poem had been to them in their healing--it was incredible to feel the words being spoken through the grungy alleyways and brick of NYC.
The spoken word video "This is for the women who don't give a fuck" has been viewed over 400,000 times in the last year.
I wanted to give it another way to breathe and move into this world--thus, "This is for the women" collection of products was born.
This poem was written about the women in my life who inspire and empower me.
It was not about one woman, it was written about many.
